These three Wood Ducks were composed and designed as a three bird Shootin’ Rig. They are hollow to aid in floatation. An interesting feature of these birds is the creation of a juvenile drake. In the early fall the young birds are seen frequently. During this time there is a transition in their plumage sequence from the dull brown, cryptic plumage of the juvenile to the birght, colorful adult plumage. On this bird the emergence of some of the adult plumage can be seen in various areas. This color scheme was thoughtfully and carefully composed by Pat Godin.
