This class features life size scale carvings of any species that are often put in the context with their habitat. The goal of the artist is to create an original and creative interpretation of the bird in its natural environment and to successfully communicate the idea to the viewer. Some designs can be very complex and yet some of the most sophisticated designs have minimal or no elements of habitat and despite simplicity are very successful in communicating the artist’s vision. Aided greatly by modeling techniques, I have chosen to create life size wildfowl carvings of birds with additional elements of habitat, often using steel and bronze for strength and support.
