Practical decoys with diverse designs

The class of “Gunning Decoys” offers a wide range of designs and finishes. From block painted hunting decoys with minimal feather sculpting to models with finishes reminiscent of Decorative Smoothie Decoys, this class is full of design diversity. Usually, Gunning Decoys are fitted with weighted keels to help stabilize the floatation and also help these decoys to self right when placed on their backs. The competition judging normally takes place in either an indoor tank of water or in natural conditions outside. The first decoys I made in the early ‘70’s were made as practical hunting decoys.
