Carving and Painting a Smoothie Decoy

This CD features the carving and painting of the Pintail Drake. The Pintail species is always popular among carvers, largely due to its graceful shape and interesting color scheme. In this project carvers will learn how to compose complex feather patterns, insert the long tail, and carve an open bill. The vermiculation is accomplished using combing techniques, but a section on the CD also shows how to vermiculate using a fine sable brush. A pattern for the project is included on the CD.
